Prior to becoming an attorney I spent 21 years as a Fairfax County Police Officer. I was promoted to Detective and worked burglary, grand larcenies, drug cases, robberies, sex offenses, assaults, malicious wounding, elder abuse. In response to an alarming gang threat I began the first Gang Unit in Fairfax County and worked within the Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese communities to combat crimes against persons, extortion, home invasions, credit card fraud. Traveled to Hong Kong with the U.S. Secret Service on a hundred million dollar credit card case involving Chinese Triads which resulted in seizures of drugs, weapons, shutting down and international credit card theft ring and closing several contract murders. Retired as a Sergeant. Graduated Law school in 2010. Passed the California bar, most difficult in the nation, entered the Virginia state bar in 2012 and Maryland in 2014.
I can guarantee one thing. You will never hear me guarantee anything. I have heard all too often from clients who complain that other attorneys guarantee an outcome. Not only is that an impossibility to do so, given the nature of the justice system, but it is an ethical violation and get can an attorney suspended or disbarred. I don't read the future so I do not make empty promises.
What I do promise is that I will fight for you. We will discuss your case and review it from your perspective. After that I do what most attorneys do not: I then go right to the source: the arresting officer. I will discuss with the officer the facts as he believes them to be. Next I will sit with the prosecutor and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of their case. The majority of the time I can get a resolution, whether it is a dismissal, nolle pros, or reduction in the severity of the charges. If not, then we go to trial and fight for your acquittal. I will always stay in touch with you as the case develops
If you want an empty promise from a lawyer that your case will be a sure victory, please go hire someone else who dares to make that guarantee. All they want is your money. But if you want honesty and someone who will fight for you, while not draining your wallet then call me.
As a detective I found that the vast majority of persons involved in the justice system are of limited means. I started this practice to help those people out. My fees are reduced because I believe in the spirit of the Rules of the Virginia and Maryland State Bars, as well as the American Bar Association that seek to encourage all attorneys to offer pro bono or low bono work for those who wish to retain counsel but have limited means. My fees are lower so that I can accomplish that goal.
I do accept credit cards and debit cards. Please keep in mind there is a 4% fee that is applied, which is charged by the bank. Depending on the total fee, I do permit making payments over time, but all fees must be paid within 45 days. There is a requirement of paying half at the time of retaining my services. If the client fails to make payments, there are other fees and penalties that can be assessed. The client is responsible for all costs associated with collection efforts. My firm can withdraw if client fails to make agreed payments as the contract sets forth. Most times there will be no refund due to the amount of work completed at the time.
Civil Cases: I do handle civil cases on a percentage basis, or hourly or flat fee. Other fees will be applied to cover administrative expenses such as filing fees, experts, and office expenses associated with the case.
It is important to note that I am not your lawyer until a Representation Agreement is signed by both parties.
